For as long as she can remember, Jody has been passionate about helping animals live happier, healthier lives. Having spent much of her early life living on a farm with dogs, cats, chickens and larger farm animals, she found herself spending most of her free time playing the role of caretaker. Whether that meant grooming dogs or lending a hand at her hometown’s veterinary clinic, Jody was all in! It was only natural that when she saw our need for volunteers to walk dogs she was quickly signed up.

Having spent her professional career as a nurse, Jody is an irreplaceable asset to our team. Soon after joining our team, Jody transitioned onto our healthcare team. She now spends her time helping the staff perform health exams, administer treatments, and anything else she can get her hands on! With over 3,000 new animals coming into our care each year, our volunteers and staff are paramount in ensuring that each animal is taken care of according to their unique needs.
Jody is quick to note how rewarding it is to help animals who can’t advocate for themselves. ‘There is a joy and happiness in helping others that I just can’t explain. It leaves you feeling really good’, says Jody. Our volunteers have clocked a total of 11,000 hours this year alone! It is because of volunteers like Jody that we are able to make such a huge impact in the lives of the homeless pets within our community.
