Client Services Manager

The Client Services Manager at the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA oversees a team of three full time staff who are the first to serve the animals in our community through interactions with the public.  Key functions performed by the team include: answering public inquiries about programs and services, receipt of donations, animal intakes & outcomes, sharing pet retention resources and distribution of vouchers for the community cat program.

Ideal candidate will have experience managing a team of three to four people in an office at a veterinary clinic or human health setting.

Exempt, full time position with a salary range of $45 – $50k.

Client Services Representative

Are you as passionate about helping people as you are animals?  Our Client Services team members are the first to help new animals coming into our facility and the last to say goodbye to the ones leaving for their adoptive homes.  Team members share information about our various programs, resources to keep animals out of the shelter system and work hard to reunite lost pets with their owners.  And of course they get to play ‘matchmaker’ to potential adopters and the animals in our care as they review all adoption applications.

Ideal candidate will have a ‘people first’ approach, excel in a fast paced dynamic workplace and help our team members develop their own leadership potential.

Animal Care Manager

The animal care team are the caregivers and matchmakers for the animals in our care.  They provide for the daily husbandry needs of the animals keeping their environment clean, the animals fed and exercised and closely monitoring their behavioral and medical health.  They gather photos and videos of the animals, write bios for the website and help work on their manners to improve their adoptability.  And when the animals are ready for adoption they diligently play matchmaker to pair each animal with their adoptive family.

We are searching for an animal care manager to lead this team. An energetic, solution oriented individual who can support a large team of staff and volunteers and work closely with the animal health and foster managers to optimize the flow of animals in our care.  Planning, coaching and great communication are qualities essential to success in this role.

Ideal candidate will have prior experience manage staff and animal population of over 150 in an animal shelter.

Exempt, full time position with a salary range of $50 – $55k.

Animal Care Team: Dog Care Position

Have a love for dogs and like working with people?  Consider joining our amazing Animal Care Team.   We’re looking for someone outgoing, energetic and detail oriented.  A team of three team members each day is responsible for cleaning, feeding, exercising and helping find adoptive homes for the dogs in our care.  We maintain a population of sixty to sixty five dogs at the shelter, each with their unique personalities and needs.  Position offers hands on experience working with dogs so if you’re thinking of a career in veterinary medicine or dog training, this maybe be the ideal position for you.

Full Time Position (40 Hours)

Five days a week.  7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (some weekends included)

Animal Care Team: ISO/Q Position

The Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA is seeking to fill a position on the Animal Care Team.  This position would be specifically working with our Isolation and Quarantine animals. This  is one of the most important positions within our organization as this position is responsible for the daily husbandry, medical and behavioral monitoring, enrichment, and exercise needs of the sick animals in our care.

We are seeking to fill (2) positions on the Animal Care staff for the Isolation and Quarantine team. The Shifts are:

(Part-time) Average of 25 hours per week.

SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday  7:00 am to 1:30 pm (Position 1)

Tuesday through Saturday 7:00 am to 1:30 pm (Position 2)

Animal Health Technician

Have you worked at a vet clinic? Did you want to help homeless animals in our community by providing for their medical needs? Do you like people as much as you like animals? Want to spend your day addressing medical concerns of homeless animals?

If you answered yes to the questions above, working as an animal health technician at the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA may just be the job for you.  The position works closely with the animal health manager and attending veterinarians to provide the best medical care for the animals in our care.

You’ll learn how to monitor the health animals, perform health exams on animals, administer vaccines and treatments.  Yes, there is some less glamorous stuff like making sure the supplies are restocked, the areas are cleaned and the animal’s records are up to date. But the bulk of the work is working hands on with the animals, providing them with the TLC they need and getting them ready for adoption!

SCHEDULE 

Monday through Thursday: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Alternate Friday and Saturday: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

This unpaid internship role will help with coordinating, overseeing, and training volunteers under the guidance of the Volunteer Manager. This position also assists the Client Services Team which is responsible for administrative tasks, intakes, outcomes, financial records, and sanitation of the public areas.
