Animal Health Team: Animal Health Technician

The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Animal Health Technician to join our animal health team. In this critical role, you’ll work hands-on to provide medical care for the animals in our care, ensuring their health and comfort, while preparing them for adoption.
As part of the Animal Health Team, you’ll perform medical intake exams, administer treatments and vaccinations, maintain accurate health records, and collaborate closely with staff, volunteers, and veterinarians. You'll play a key role in optimizing animal flow through the shelter while upholding the highest standards of care and humane treatment.
The ideal candidate will bring experience working in a veterinary or shelter setting, a proactive and positive attitude, and a strong commitment to improving animal welfare. If you are passionate about making a difference and thrive in a fast-paced, team-focused environment, we’d love to meet you!
Compensation: $15–$17/hour, commensurate with experience.
Benefits include: Medical insurance and paid time off after a period of employment.
Schedule : five days per week 8:00-4:30. Must have weekend availability.

Client Services Team: Client Service Position
Join Our Team: Client Services Representative
The Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA is seeking a compassionate and service-oriented individual to join our team as a Client Services Representative. This role is essential in ensuring a welcoming and supportive experience for our clients while contributing to RHSPCA’s lifesaving efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide courteous, informative, and helpful service to clients, including adopters, pet owners, and the public.
- Perform intakes and outcomes for animals, ensuring accurate record-keeping and adherence to shelter policies.
- Educate and assist clients with pet adoption, lost and found pets, surrendering animals, and other shelter services.
- Contribute to departmental goals and assist in implementing best shelter practices to enhance the RHSPCA’s impact.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate approach while handling sensitive situations with clients.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with a passion for helping both people and animals.
- Bi-lingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in animal welfare, shelter operations, or customer service is preferred but not required.
- Comfortable handling a variety of situations, including emotionally challenging conversations.

Volunteer Program & Client Services Team Support Role
This unpaid internship role will help with coordinating, overseeing, and training volunteers under the guidance of the Volunteer Manager. This position also assists the Client Services Team which is responsible for administrative tasks, intakes, outcomes, financial records, and sanitation of the public areas.
