Pet Cremation Services at the RHSPCA
We’re Here for You
Saying the final goodbye to a beloved pet is an emotional experience. Our staff will compassionately guide you through the pet cremation process.
Your Feelings Are Normal
After the passing of a four-legged family member, you will most likely experience a wide range of emotions. Denial, anger, guilt, sadness; all of this is normal. It’s important to develop healthy coping mechanisms to help you through the grieving process. We recommend:
- Acknowledging your loss and accepting your feelings
- Expressing those feelings through a written or verbal release
- Switching up your routine to keep your mind busy
What to Expect
When the time comes to consider animal cremation services, the RHSPCA can provide a compassionate and sympathetic process. For private cremations, we will return the ashes to you with the option of including a beautiful memorial urn.
Another option to consider is our mass cremation service for pets under 50 pounds. If you choose this method, we are unable to return the ashes. Please note that the RHSPCA does not provide euthanasia services for owned pets.
Weight Of Pet | Mass Cremation | Private Cremation |
---|---|---|
1-25 pounds | $55 | $100 |
26-50 pounds | $65 | $140 |
51-75 pounds | $175 | $175 |
76-100 pounds | $200 | $200 |
101-150 pounds | $250 | $250 |
Be Prepared
Preparing for the loss of a pet is something most individuals try to avoid. However, discussing your options with your family and your veterinarian in advance can go a long way in helping you understand the process before grief makes it that much harder.
If you would like to get an imprint of their paw, or save a tuft of their fur, we ask that you do so before dropping off your pet at the shelter. If you have chosen our private cremation option, we will call you when the ashes are ready to be picked up. We hope that you don’t have to consider pet cremation options anytime soon, but if you do, we are here for you.
